One common culprit behind hair loss is genetics. Androgenetic alopecia, commonly known as male-pattern or female-pattern baldness, is hereditary and affects both men and women. In these cases, the hair follicles become sensitive to dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a hormone derived from testosterone, leading to miniaturisation of hair follicles and eventual hair loss. While genetic predisposition cannot be altered, its progression can be slowed with appropriate interventions.
Environmental factors also play a significant role in hair loss. Exposure to pollutants, harsh chemicals, and ultraviolet radiation can damage the hair follicles, impeding healthy growth and leading to thinning hair. Additionally, poor lifestyle habits such as smoking, excessive alcohol consumption, and an imbalanced diet lacking essential nutrients contribute to hair loss by depriving the scalp and hair follicles of vital nutrients and oxygen.
Fortunately, numerous preventive measures can help slow down the progression of hair loss. This is where Byerim comes into play with our shampoo, conditioner, scalp scrub and hair oil. One effective strategy is the use of specialised hair loss shampoos. These shampoos are formulated with ingredients such as biotin, vitamin E, and caffeine to nourish the scalp and strengthen hair strands, thereby reducing breakage and promoting thicker, healthier hair growth. Caffeine has been shown to stimulate hair follicles and promote hair growth by blocking the effects of DHT and increasing blood circulation to the scalp. Incorporating caffeine shampoo into your hair care routine can help revitalise thinning hair and prevent further loss.
Scalp scrubs are another effective tool in the fight against hair loss. These exfoliating treatments help remove buildup of dead skin cells, excess sebum, and product residue from the scalp, allowing for better absorption of nourishing ingredients and promoting a healthier environment for hair growth. Regular use of a scalp scrub for hair growth can improve scalp health and stimulate follicles to produce thicker, stronger hair.
For those inclined towards natural remedies, natural hair growth oils such as the ByErim hair oil offer a gentle yet potent solution to combat hair loss. Essential oils such as rosemary, peppermint, and lavender are known for their ability to improve circulation, reduce inflammation, and nourish the scalp, promoting optimal conditions for hair growth. Massaging natural hair growth oil into the scalp regularly can help strengthen hair follicles and minimise shedding.
Hair thinning can indeed pose a threat to overall hair health. While some degree of hair thinning is natural with age, excessive thinning can indicate underlying issues such as hormonal imbalances, nutritional deficiencies, or scalp conditions. Thinning hair may lead to reduced volume, increased vulnerability to damage, and decreased self-confidence. Additionally, it can be a precursor to more severe forms of hair loss if left untreated. Therefore, addressing hair thinning promptly through appropriate hair care routines and, if necessary, seeking professional advice can help maintain overall hair health and prevent further deterioration.
Here are the four natural oils that are best for promoting hair growth and addressing thinning included in our luxury hair and beard oil!
In conclusion, while hair loss may seem inevitable for some, understanding its causes and implementing preventive measures can significantly slow down its progression. By incorporating the best hair growth shampoo for thinning hair, scalp scrubs, and natural hair growth oils into your hair care routine, you can nourish your scalp, strengthen your hair follicles, and promote thicker, healthier hair growth. With patience and consistency, achieving a fuller head of hair is within reach for many.

1. Understanding the Damage
Before we embark on the path to recovery, it's crucial to understand the nature of hair damage. From split ends to breakage, damaged hair can manifest in various ways. Exposure to heat, harsh chemicals, and lack of proper care can strip the hair of its natural oils, leaving it dry, brittle, and prone to breakage.
2. The Healing Power of Moisture
The first step in repairing damaged hair is restoring moisture. Dry, damaged hair is often a result of dehydration. Incorporating a hydrating shampoo and conditioner, preferably sulphate-free, can help replenish the lost moisture. ByErim's Moisture Lock Shampoo and Conditioner, enriched with 100% naturally derived ingredients, can be a game-changer in this regard.
3. Regular Trims for Renewal
While it may seem counterintuitive, regular trims play a pivotal role in repairing damaged hair. Trimming away split ends prevents them from travelling up the hair shaft, promoting healthier growth.
4. Scalp Nourishment
A healthy scalp is the foundation for vibrant hair. ByErim's Scalp Detox Scrub, with its revolutionary melting bead technology, provides a luxurious detox experience. Gently exfoliating the scalp removes impurities, allowing for better product absorption and promoting optimal conditions for healthy hair growth.
5. The Heat Dilemma
Excessive heat styling is a common culprit behind damaged hair. Minimising heat exposure and investing in quality styling tools, can safeguard your hair from further damage.
6. Switching Up Styles for Resilience
Constantly styling your hair in the same way can lead to traction alopecia and breakage. Embrace versatility in your hairstyles and partings to distribute tension evenly. We encourage experimenting with styles that not only look chic but also prioritise the health of your locks.
7. Overnight Restoration with Protective Wraps
Give your hair a royal treatment overnight with our Luxury Hair Wrap. Made with vegan silk, it not only protects your hair from breakage and friction during sleep but also helps in maintaining hairstyles. This nighttime essential adds an extra layer of care to your hair repair routine

ByErim takes pride in offering a range of products free from sulphates, silicones, parabens, and SLS. Opting for clean, natural ingredients ensures a gentle and effective approach to hair repair.

ByErim offers a holistic approach to hair repair, bringing your locks back to life with a touch of luxury.
]]>Hydration is Key
Just like your body, your hair needs hydration too. The summer heat can dehydrate your hair, leaving it dry and brittle. Make sure to drink plenty of water to keep yourself and your hair hydrated from the inside out. Additionally, use moisturising shampoos and conditioners to replenish moisture lost due to the sun and sweat.
Shield Your Hair from the Sun
Excessive sun exposure can lead to colour fading, dryness, and overall damage to your hair. To protect your hair from the sun's harmful UV rays, consider wearing a wide-brimmed hat or using a scarf or head wrap. You can also apply a hair oil or UV protectant spray to shield your locks from sun damage.
Minimise Heat Styling
Summer is the perfect time to embrace natural, effortless hairstyles. Give your hair a break from excessive heat styling, such as blow drying, straightening, or curling. Instead, opt for air-drying your hair or try heatless styling techniques like braids, buns, or beachy waves. Not only will this save your hair from heat damage, but it'll also give you a trendy, carefree summer look.
Deep Conditioning Treatments
Integrate deep conditioning treatments into your hair care routine to combat the effects of sun exposure and chlorinated water. Apply a deep conditioner or hair mask once a week to replenish moisture, repair any damage, and maintain the overall health and shine of your hair.
Swim Smartly
Swimming is a fantastic summer activity, but pool water can contain chlorine, which can be harsh on your hair. Before diving in, wet your hair with clean water or apply the ByErim hair oil to minimise chlorine absorption. After swimming, rinse your hair thoroughly with fresh water and use a clarifying shampoo to remove any residue. Conditioning your hair after swimming is essential to restore moisture and prevent dryness.
Frizz Control
Humidity often leads to frizzy hair, but you can combat this issue with a few tricks. Use anti-frizz serums or leave-in conditioners to tame frizz and keep your hair smooth. Avoid brushing your hair when it's dry, as it can cause more frizz. Instead, use a wide-toothed comb or your fingers to detangle your hair gently.
Trim Regularly
Summer is the ideal time to get rid of split ends and promote healthy hair growth. Schedule regular trims every six to eight weeks to prevent split ends from travelling up the hair shaft. Trimming will also help your hair feel lighter and less weighed down during the hot summer months.
Conclusion:
With these essential hair care tips, you can enjoy the summer sun without worrying about your hair losing its lustre and health. Hydrate, protect, and nourish your hair to combat the damaging effects of heat, sun, and humidity. Remember to embrace your natural hair texture and opt for heatless styling to keep your locks looking effortless and trendy. This summer, show off your beautiful, healthy hair and radiate confidence wherever you go!

There’s so many incredible hair benefits when it comes to using a scalp scrub. For instance;
- Removes product build up: just like how we exfoliate our skin to remove dead skin cells and buildup, a scalp scrub can help remove product buildup, dead skin cells and excess oils from the scalp. This can help promote a healthy scalp and prevent clogged hair follicles, which usually leads to hair loss.
- Stimulates blood flow: massaging your scalp with a scrub can increase blood flow to the hair follicles, which can help promote hair growth and overall scalp health.
- Soothes dry, itchy scalps: if you suffer from a dry or itchy scalp, a scalp scrub can help remove flakes and soothe irritation.
- Improves product absorption: removing buildup from the scalp can help your hair and scalp absorb hair products more effectively, allowing them to work better and last longer.

What’s the difference between an ordinary towel and a hair wrap?
Wearing a hair wrap instead of a towel to dry your hair after a shower has several benefits!
Overall, wearing a hair wrap is a great option for anyone looking to reduce damage to their hair while it dries. While towels can be rough on your hair, hair wraps are designed to be gentle and effective in helping to keep your hair healthy and shiny.

What's My Hair Type? (& recommendations to personalise your hair care routine for you!)
With over 7 BILLION searches on ‘What is My Hair Type?’ It can be easy to get overwhelmed and lost in the pages and pages of results. But knowing your hair type is essential for knowing how best to cater to your unique hair needs.
There are 4 things to consider when analysing your hair type: Elasticity, Porosity, Damage and Texture. Once you have established all 4 (which you will be able to by the end of this!), we will give you a personalised haircare routine to maximise your beautiful hair.
1.Elasticity
This refers to the extent to which hair can be stretched and returned to its original shape. Hair, when wet, can increase in length by 30% and then return to its original length once dry. The hair’s elasticity is due to the keratin coiled structure within the cortex. Moisture is key to elasticity - if something is supple, it is stretchier and if it is brittle it’ll break easily!
How do I test this?
Next time you see a stray hair on the floor, pick it up and gently hold from either side and pull. If the hair is able to be stretched and returned to more or less its original length, your hair has good elasticity! If when you pull it, the hair breaks or is unable to return to its original length, this is an indicator of poor elasticity.
THE SOLUTION:
If your hair is elastic, then great! You have hair which is able to absorb liquids easily. You can use slightly less product than those with low elasticity but we recommend using our hair wrap after shampooing to help remove wetness from your hair, without overly-stripping that all-essential moisture.
For those with low elasticity, this is an indicator of low moisture in your hair. We recommend going in with an intensive hair oil treatment 1-2 times a week. Leaving it overnight (ideally with the hair wrap for a deeper soak!) and washing out in the morning. As your hair doesn’t absorb liquid, give yourself a little longer when shampooing in the morning and use an all-natural shampoo so as to not irritate your scalp.
2. Porosity
This is the hair’s ability to absorb liquids and this is affected by the condition of the cuticle scales (outer layer of hair). If the cuticle scales have been damaged due to physical or chemical damage then the porosity of hair will increase.
How do I test this?
This is a very old school method but super effective! Grab a glass of water (filled 2/3rds) and a strand of hair. Place it in the water and allow it to be fully submerged. Wait 10 mins and come back to see where in the glass the hair has landed. If it is floating near the top, it has low porosity (low ability to absorb liquids). If it is near the bottom, it has high porosity ( high ability to absorb liquids - likely due to damage). The ideal result is that it floats somewhere near the middle.
THE SOLUTION:
For those with low porosity, you have a strong outer layer (cuticle) which sounds great but it means that it’s harder for products to penetrate! We advise using a vegan boar bristle brush to evenly distribute product across all hair strands and leaving in an oil treatment overnight to allow for an intensive moisture boost.
If you have high porosity, this means your hair absorbs any & all products. The science behind why this isn’t as amazing as it sounds, is because the process of filling the hair with liquid and evaporating out, causes long-term dryness. Ideally, use our 3 in 1 conditioner when washing hair to give long-lasting lightweight conditioning to your hair to maintain and protect your hair until your next wash! Plus, for an added boost on the ends, apply one pump of our all-natural oil to the ends of your hair to avoid split ends.
3. Damage
Generally we can look at the 3 evils: colour dye, chemical treatments and heat. Of course, it is hard to avoid all three of these but we advise picking one ‘evil’ and sticking to just that. All of the above have different effects on damaging the hair, which can lead to dryness, scalp irritation and potentially hair loss in extreme cases.
How do I test this?
As every strand of hair gets treated differently (e.g. front hairs suffer more traction damage from constant friction, vs. ends of hairs which may undergo more intensive bleaching), it is hard to apply a test to cover all factors but shine, bounce and rate of growth are all indicators of healthy hair for you to keep an eye on!
THE SOLUTION:
Of course, it is hard to avoid all three but there are ways to support your hair whilst maintaining the look you like! Sleeping with our hair wrap to avoid unnecessary friction (leading to breakage) overnight and brushing hair gently using our vegan brush can boost the shine and help your hair retain longer between washes as the boar bristles pick up dirt etc.
4. Texture
Now this is the fun part; texture refers to the way your hair looks! We tend to call this our ‘curl pattern’ and all 4 types have been visualised below. Of course, through ageing, damage, hormones etc, we can see a change to our natural hair texture (as well as different hairs displaying different textures!) but knowing your general category is helpful in knowing the WAY to apply your hair products.
Take a look below to find out what hair texture best represents your natural hair:
Type 1: Straight
1A
If this is you, 1a hair tends to be the straightest of the straight hair type while also being the thinnest yet shiniest, as straight hair is a flat surface, it is easier for light to bounce off its edges, increasing the appearance of shine, but it doesn’t tend to hold heat-styled curls etc. well.
1B
While 1b hair isn’t relatively as straight as 1a types, it is still relatively straight! The main difference is a few bendy strands here and there, and 1b hair can be prone to greasiness overall.
1C
Unlike 1b hair, which can be thinner, 1c hair is typically thicker, rougher, and has a few more visible waves. In addition, due to the higher possibility of coarseness with 1c hair, those who often do chemical or heat treatments can fall into this subsection.
T
Type 2: Wavy
2A
Your hair is fairly straight from up to eye level, creating loose waves as it moves downwards.
2B
Similarly to 2a hair, the hair becomes wavy after eye length; however, it has more of an ‘S’ defining shape.
2C
The waviest of this subsection! Compared to the 2b type, 2c hair has a curl pattern which begins at a higher point of our head, typically the crown moving downwards.
Type 3: Curly
3A
In contrast to 2c hair, which can have more waves than light curls, 3a hair instead has more light curls than waves. This hair type is also bouncier and easily affected by mother nature; yes, we’re talking about rain and wind!
3B
As 3b curls are tighter than 3a, the circumference is smaller - about the size of a highlighter pen! Do note that across type 3, not all curls on one head are likely to follow the same pattern.
3C
The 3c curls are a tight squad that are closely packed together, being the most voluminous of the three and the dryest. The circumference is smaller than 3b curls, decreasing to the size of a pencil.
Type 4: Coily
4A
This hair type has the smallest coils with a mix of 3c curls, which can fit around a crochet needle.
4B
While 4a hair follows an S-shape, 4b hair is a lot denser with a zig-zag (Z-shape) pattern. Adding to this, type 4b can be of a drier hair texture than 4a.
4C
4c hair is a dramatically tighter Z-shape than 4b hair, but also prone to fragility and shrinkage. Having said this, 4c hair is known to be versatile in terms of hairstyles, as it can hold them well.
Now that you’re an expert on your hair type, this is your sign to invest into your hair journey with our all-natural range of hair & beard care products!
]]>Hair washing is all fun and games until you skip out on your conditioner in hopes that the shampoo alone was enough or worse, end up using a 2 in 1 product. If this sounds like you, then we urge you to continue reading!
The shampoo is crucial but its main function is to specifically get rid of the dirt, dead skin cells, sweat and hair product. Your hair at this point has now been stripped down of all the nasties including your naturally produced sebum in the scalp which keeps your hair hydrated and naturally moisturised. So if you only shampoo your hair, where’s the shine?!
Using a good hair conditioner will leave your hair softer and a lot easier to manage. When your hair shafts are beautifully coated with the conditioner it also protects it from any damage.
Now that we’ve established the importance of using a hair conditioner, so you’d never skip out on this step (and hopefully run to byerim.com to place your order ASAP!) let’s dive into how you can use the ByErim luxury hair conditioner.
First things first, our shampoo and conditioner has been in the making for one and a half years, it has been formulated with ingredients such as castor oil, amla extract & betaine. We’re also super thrilled to announce that our product range is a 100% naturally derived!
1. Lengths
The most common way of applying hair conditioner has always been to the lengths.
This is when you evenly spread it to the ends of your hair and leave it for 1 minute before washing it off! It works great for scalps that gets oily easily, as you would essentially avoid that area.
2. Roots
This can be quite controversial since it’s not common practice but our conditioner is perfectly safe and if you have a dry scalp, you can use all the moisture you can. Apply the conditioner into your scalp and the lengths of your hair before washing it out with water.
3. Leave In Treatment
Another way you can use the conditioner is with leaving it in your hair! The natural
properties will bring in the shine and leave your hair glossy and moisturized.
4. Hair Mask
Treat your hair and scalp to a hair mask using out conditioner - the consistency is thick and fluffy which makes it perfect to apply it all over your hair and then tie it up in a bun and allow the conditioner to work its magic. You can then wash it off after 15-20 mins and watch your hair turn silky smooth!
5. Beard
That’s right, as a haircare brand we also take beards seriously. Your beard, although mighty on its own, would also love some much deserved TLC!
Can’t wait to get your hands on the shampoo and conditioner?! Head over to our site and add to cart because your hair deserves to be treated with all the tender love & care.
• NOT OILING YOUR BEARD
If you’re trying to get serious about your beard, and wondering what to do. Investing in a really good beard oil would be a fantastic place to start with! Applying your beard oil daily will bring in a bunch of benefits that you’d begin to see over time.
For instance:
• Your skin under your beard will thank you for having moisturized skin as you cannot simply use face moisturizer on to the skin directly under your beard.
• Oiling your beard gives the same benefit as oiling your hair, it makes it easier to maintain! No one wants to roughly comb out beard hair, if it’s tangled and difficult.
• Say goodbye to irritation! If you find yourself scratching your beard and constantly in discomfort, this will let your skin to breathe and give you relief.
• Finally of course you’re about to have a shinier, healthier & fuller looking beard!
• NOT BRUSHING YOUR BEARD
You’d think growing a beard is super easy, and you won’t really have to ACTUALLY brush it. If only that was the case! Brushing out your beard on a daily basis actually helps with detangling all knots and keep it neat & tidy. Plus, with a really good brush (preferably our luxury hair brush) the vegan boar bristles is designed to evenly distribute the oils. The longer your beard, the brush comes in handy because it can reach the hairs buried deep within!
• GIVING UP TOO SOON
We’re all guilty of this! I’m sure you can relate to dedicating a week or two for growth and eventually giving up when you don’t see immediate results.
The burning question to ask at this point is, “have I really dedicated enough time to allow my beard to reach its full potential?!” If you’re thinking “no”, then it’s time to give it another chance and give it at least a minimum of two months before seeing real results. Be patient, good things come to those who wait!
• STOP BELIEVING BEARD MYTHS
While beards take on mainstream media, we see a growing trend of beard myths surrounding it. It’s disheartening to see many who actually believe these claims and eventually giving up on their beard journey soon after hearing them!
Here’s a few we’ve come across:
• “It can get so annoying in the summer” this isn’t true, Business Insider has shown evidence that beards can actually be cooling during the summer and protects you from UV rays!
• “Shaving your beard regularly will make it grow faster” - this is unfortunately down to genetics!

Let’s get into this article!
So…What is Ayurveda?
Ayurveda is an ancient system of healing that has more to do with preventive health than healing health (Hopkins Medicine). This ultimately means that the system works proactively to stop the deterioration of ones health over working on repairing what has been damaged. At the core of the Ayurvedic system is a principle of balance whereby it is essential for the three doshas to work together (WebMD).
Within this system there are three doshas. These doshas are based on the five Ayurvedic elements from space (Akasha), air (Vayu), fire (Tejas), water (Jala) and earth (Prithvi). The three doshas are:
A) Vata
Vata contains two elements, air and space (ether), and is typically considered to be described as cold, light, dry, rough, flowing and spacious! When relating to hair characteristics, Vata-dominant have thin, straight hair with higher porosity and can also be slightly rough and curly.
As a Vata-dominant person, according to Ayurveda, a regular routine should be followed to manage stress. Calming activities, like yoga for example, would help maintain and regulate a warm body temperature, as well as, avoid cold weather. There are many ways you can protect your hair from harsh temperatures! For instance, wearing a hat, oiling treatments for moisture as a barrier of protection and wearing loose styles to prevent unnecessary pulling.
An imbalance in Vata dosha can cause excessive dryness, flaky dandruff, frizzy and brittle hair. It may also cause hair thinning and split ends.
B) Pitta
Pitta dosha is based on the elements of fire and water and can be associated with a tenacious personality! Summer is known as the pitta season for its hot and sunny days. Pitta hair tends to be slightly wavy with medium thickness and hair density, alongside medium strength and length.
Being Pitta-dominant entails the possibilities of greasy hair, an excess produce of sebum that can lead to build-up and clogged hair follicles. An imbalance in pitta dosha often leads to excess heat in the hair follicles which may be damaging and cause hair thinning, as well as, early greying.
C) Kapha
The final dosha, Kapha, is fashioned on earth and water. Its characteristics can be labelled as steady, stable, heavy, slow, cold and soft, in relation to a season, it would be known as Spring, as many parts of the world slowly exit hibernation.
The hair characteristics of a Kapha-dominant person consists of thick, smooth, lustrous, well-hydrated, straight and strong. An imbalance in the Kapha dosha can result in excess oil secretion that blocks the follicles of your scalp, similarly to Pitta dosha, which can lead to wet and sticky flakes.
How have we implemented this within our formula and foundations?
The three doshas - Vata, Pitta and Kapha - are the essential when understanding your hair type and how important the principle of balance becomes to proactively maintain your healthy hair.
With Vata dosha, an imbalance causes dry, flaky, brittle and frizzy hair. This is why our blend of sweet almond oil and castor oil is a must! Sweet almost oil easily penetrates the hair due to its smaller molecular size, which means it works hard to create a sealant on the cuticles and locking in all the nutrients from all oils in our formula and providing maximum moisturisation and hydration. Meanwhile, castor oil is rich in protein which is crucial for hair strength and growth, thus preventing breaking and damage.
Moving on, a disruption in Pitta dosha can lead to heat damage, thinning and early greying. To repair your hair with pitta dosha, our blend of coconut oil and amla oil is essential! Coconut oil contains countless antibacterial properties to help remove sebum build-up from your hair follicles, in addition, its full of vitamins and fatty acids to help nourish the scalp, penetrate the cuticle of the hair and improve the shine and lustre of your hair. Who wouldn’t want that?! When combined with amla oil, the high vitamin C content works to prevent premature greying and aids to your overall hair growth.
Finally, when experiencing Kapha dosha it of balance the excess oil secretion leads to build-up, blockage and wet, sticky flakes. For this, we have the perfect balance of argan oil and coconut oil infused with essential oils! With the benefits of coconut oil above, argan oil is essential as its high level of vitamin E, antioxidants and anti-inflammatories work collectively to improve follicle health. By boosting the cells in your scalp and cleansing the build-up of sebum this is the ultimate blend. When infused with essential oils, lavender provides a soothing feeling to the scalp, rosemary stimulates hair follicles and bergamot is a natural stimulant to help release the power of each oil… it truly works together to become the perfect oil for you.
Erim Kaur, our founder, states “Our perfectly blended and balanced formula has been created to benefit each and every hair type!”
]]>We’re going to tell you all about our award winning Luxury Hair & Beard Oil and what exactly it is that makes us the best!
What is ByErim?
We are a luxury hair & beard care company that seeks to improve your hair health and beauty through our perfectly balanced formula of 8 pure oils. There was a reason we were voted the best and we’re about to share it with you…
Here’s what makes our Luxury ByErim Hair & Beard Oil the Best Hair Oil…
Let’s dive right in!
A) Admirable Amla Oil
Amla Oil is filled with antioxidants, nutrients and fatty acids, which all work together to strengthen and increase the health of your hair. Its deeply moisturising properties like Omega-3 and Omega-6 work together to help improve hair loss!
It also has antibacterial nature which helps prevent the growth of dandruff that is caused by an imbalance in the bacteria itself. Not to forget, due to the high vitamin C content, Amla oil helps to aid hair growth and prevents premature greying!
B) Attentive Argan Oil
There are countless benefits of Argan Oil, similar to Amla, it is rich in Omega-6 and Omega-9 which help to maintain a healthy scalp and activate hair cell growth (MPDI). Not only does it improve the health of your hair and scalp, but it also increases the elasticity and shine of the hair. This means that the hair is less prone to breakage and filled with nutrients (like vitamin E) to keep its healthy shine.
C) Capable Castor Oil
Castor Oil is rich in protein, an essential property that aids hair strength and growth. The protein and rich fatty acids protect the hair from breakage and damage caused by external factors like heating tools and tight hairstyles by lubricating the hair shaft and making it flexible (NBCI). At ByErim, we use cold-pressed castor oil as it is purer and more natural in form! The purer form allows for improvement in blood circulation when massaged into the scalp which is vital for hair growth!
D) Cherished Coconut Oil
Similar to Castor Oil, we use unrefined and cold-pressed coconut oil! This means our oil is minimally processed and not stripped of its nutrients when refined by filtration. Coconut oil is a favourite within the haircare community for its infamous moisturising and sealing qualities that help to reduce breakage and split ends.
We haven’t forgotten about beards! Coconut oil works similarly for the beard, as the oil conditions the beard itself providing an incredible sheen whilst softening the skin underneath, ensuring it remains clean and clear of blemishes.
E) Sweet Almond Oil
Sweet Almond Oil is one of the five base oils used within our formula. Due to its smaller molecular size compared to the other oils, it penetrates the hair easily and creates a sealant on the cuticles, locking all the goodness it provides into the scalp from all the other oils!
Fuelled with vitamins A, E and vitamin B-7 (also known as biotin), sweet almond oil works to strengthen the hair while reducing the appearing of frizz! As an added bonus, keeps the scalp clear of all bacterial and fungal infections. Overall, it is great for hair growth, shine, dryness and dandruff, and this is a single oil alone…
F) Essential Oils
Our final ingredients are three essential oils; lavender, rosemary and bergamot. Lavender oil soothes the scalp, while rosemary stimulates the hair follicles and lastly, bergamot is a natural stimulant that helps to release all the goodness of each oil! There isn’t much more you could want in an oil!
Are there additional benefits?
Well of course! We aren’t just the best for the oils themselves, but the technique behind it too. As a result of our well-balanced formula, our oil is non-greasy and non-sticky, meaning it washes out in a single was and can be used after styling. Being 100% natural and with the assistance of the essential oils, it smells amazing. If you didn’t already know, its also unisex and cruelty-free!
A message from our founder, Erim Kaur, “We’ve been dreaming of this moment since ByErim was founded, without you all we wouldn’t be here, so thank you!”
]]>What is beard oil?
Beard oil has been circulating the haircare industry for quite some time now and there are many benefits to it! It is widely known to be a conditioner for the beard due to its moisturising properties, but there is more behind maintaining a healthy beard than simply conditioning (Healthline).
Why are natural oils a must…
Natural oils are a must for beards as not only do they have properties that condition and moisturise the beard, but there are fatty acids, antioxidants, anti-inflammatory and many other qualities that can improve the health of your beard. When shopping for a beard oil you must consider our Luxury Hair & Beard Oil, its a perfectly balanced formula of 8 pure oils and its all your beard needs…
A) The Multitaskers
Amla and Argan Oil are renowned favourite in the haircare community, known for their rich moisturising properties, this is an essential base to any beard oil. While they are incredible moisturisers for your beard, they also work together by targeting a bunch of different factors that contribute to the growth of facial hair. Similar to how Argan oil attributes the growth of the hair on your head, it works wonders for the beard too!
B) The Deep Cleaners
While Amla and Argan Oil work on nourishing the beard, Castor and Coconut Oil provide a deep cleaning treatment, not only for your beard, but the skin underneath too. Castor oil contains antimicrobial properties which means it actively keeps both the beard and skin clean and clear of any dirt, dust or build-up of sebum (NBCI). An added benefit, Castor oil never fails to give a little extra volume and shine to your beard!
Coconut oil is very popular in the skincare world, which makes it understandable as to why it is now a great ingredient for beard oils! This one oil has two beneficial properties, as while the oil is conditioning the beard, providing it with the perfect shine, it also penetrates the skin underneath, giving it a smooth and softer feel.
C) The Constant Fighter
Sweet Almond Oil can do it all! From its fatty acids moisturising the beard, getting deep into the hair follicles and staying sealed there for days to strengthening it with components like magnesium and biotin, sweet almond oil has you covered.
Sweet Almond Oil also works alongside Amla and Coconut oil to say goodbye to flaky and dead skin! Fuelled with antioxidants and anti-inflammatory qualities, our oil protects the beard from external environmental damage and dandruff. By combatting dryness, dandruff and inflammation, our oil is truly the holy grain of beard oils, thus being awarded Best Hair Oil 2022!
This is why ByErim is perfect for you!

What causes hair to damage?
Perhaps you’ve spent a little too much time with heating tools or bleached your hair for that perfect shade or your hair simply lacks moisture, all of these can contribute to damaged hair. Not only how you treat your hair can cause damage, but also external environmental factors. For example, sun exposure, the harsh winter weather, humidity and many more (Healthline).
Another key, yet often overlooked, factor is stress! How you feel and fuel your body can affect your hair more than you thought, Medical News Today mention how stress can cause damage to the hair (telogen effluvium – the medical term for stress induced hair loss).
There are also hidden factors that we can bet you didn’t know was damaging your hair! For example, tight and pulling hairstyles. While these might look cute in the moment, in reality, it can break the hair away from its roots with its constant tugging on hair follicles and cause follicle damage, splitting and tensile stress (Byrdie)!
How can we minimise damaged hair?
In most cases, no matter the cause of hair damage, our hair is left with a coarse, dry and brittle feel meaning its lacking in moisture and the hairs elasticity has reduced. To minimise the look and feel of this, it is important to add moisture back to the hair! This is why we look to natural oils for damaged hair…
Why natural oils are essential for damaged hair:
A) Fuelled with Rich and Fatty Acids!
Amla Oil, Sweet Almond Oil and Caster Oil are known for being rich in fatty acids. These provide intense moisture to the cuticle, this is crucial when protecting your hair whilst using styling tools or entering harsh weathers. They are known to lubricate the hair shaft which increases the flexibility and elasticity of the hair, thus reducing the chance of further breakage (NCBI). It also improves blood circulation when massaged into the scalp, this is vital for hair growth and rejuvenation.
B) The Undefeated Trio…
Sweet Almond Oil, Argan Oil and Amla Oil work together to be the perfect match to protect your hair and nourish it back to health, leaving it soft and shiny (NCBI)! Amla oil is full of nutrients that help to protect and nourish your hair cuticle. Mixed with Sweet Almond Oil, this combination is like no other, the nutrients work hard together to strengthen your hair and keep all kinds of bad bacteria and fungal infections away from the scalp.
Meanwhile, Argan Oil’s Omega-6 and Omega-9 properties work to improve and maintain a healthy scalp. Omega-9 (linoleic acid) has also recently been known to activate hair cell growth (MPDI). It’s also famously known to increase hair elasticity and shine, which means reduced breakage and the formation of split ends by moisturising the hair.
C) The Stand Alone Fighter
Coconut oil is known to improve the condition of bleached hair. With over bleaching or incorrect use of bleach, the protein in your hair is broken apart leaving you with dry, brittle and broken hair. Filled with moisture, coconut oil will become your saviour as it seals the moisture into the hair follicle and prevents the loss of protein, as well as, helping with texture and shine!
D) Essential Oils for Damaged Hair
In line with industry regulations, the ByErim formula includes three essential oils (lavender, rosemary and bergamot) at 1%. Lavender oil is the most searched for essential oil in the UK and it is known for deeply conditions the hair and providing an overall soothing effect.
The benefits of ByErim for damaged hair
Blended and balanced to perfection our non-greasy, highly nourishing oil is all you need to restore your hair health. We recommend 1-2 weekly treatments, starting with 2 pumps (dependent on your hair length) on your roots. Following this, apply another pump to the length and ends of your hair, this is considered an all-over treatment! For extra moisture and nourishment, apply daily on ends.
As our oil is 100% natural, you can personalise how you use it dependent on your hair wash schedule and personal preference! We love an all-over treatment before working out and application on ends post-styling for that perfect non-greasy shine.
A quote from our CEO, Erim Kaur, “Natural oils are a must when repairing damaged hair, it’s good to nourish the hair with healthy properties that work together to rebuild your hair health”.]]>
What makes hair shiny?
How can you determine your hair health and what makes it shiny? Hair shine is prevalent when there is a smooth surface without ridges or holes that light can then bounce off and reflect more evenly.
One of the most influential components for having a healthy shine to your hair is moisture! Moisture is the key to unlocking the perfect shine and breaking away from the dry, dull and weighted hair that can be caused by a number of biological and environmental factors (RealSimple).
The core benefit of shiny, silky smooth hair is that it reflects your hair health (Healthline), and who wouldn’t want healthier hair?!
Here’s what’s stopping you from getting the healthy hair you deserve…
If you didn’t know, there are a number of things that are preventing you from either achieving or keeping that natural hair shine. Here are a few we’ve put together to help you figure out the cause and how you can limit its affects:
Heat-styling tools: This is one of the more obvious ways of stripping your hair of its natural shine.
Daily shampoo washes: Regular washes means you are constantly washing away the natural oils produced by your scalp that provides and preserves shine.
Harsh chemicals, dyes and treatments: These treatments often damage your hair follicles and scalp, meaning the natural oils produced by the skin (sebum) struggles to travel down the hair and maintain a natural shine. Thus, often resulting in dull and dry hair.
The best treatments for shiny hair: How can you achieve this?
A) Amla Oil for shiny hair
Amla oil contains rich nutrients which help to protect your hair cuticle, this is essential when using heat-styling tools or harsh treatments. It also contains fatty acids which are deeply moisturising! This, we know, is a must for a healthy shine and with its rich levels of Vitamin C, minerals and antioxidants, its likely to naturally rebuild your hair health (Healthline).
B) Sweet Almond Oil for shiny hair
Known for its intensely moisturising properties and rich antioxidants, sweet almond oil works hard to create and protect a natural hair shine. Not only does this oil add a healthy moisture and shine to the hair but it contains biotin, which strengthens the hair.
C) Coconut Oil for shiny hair
Working harder and faster is coconut oil as penetrates deeper and quicker into the hair shaft than most oils. It is a perfect for treatment to increase hair shine as it helps to reduce the loss of protein.
D) Argan Oil for shiny hair
Argan oil is famously known to increase hair elasticity and shine, which means reduced breakage and the formation of split ends by moisturising the hair. With the help of antioxidants, Argan oil works to control water loss and improve hydration.
E) Caster Oil for shiny hair
According to Elle and infamous Trichologist, Philip Kingsley, castor oil works hard to trap moisture which smooths the cuticle of the hair (Elle). When perfectly combined with the oils above, natural oils are truly the key to unlocking a healthier, long-lasting shine.
F) Brushing Daily
Who would have thought? Brushing your hair daily helps to naturally distribute moisture and increase hair shine (The Healthy)!
How to treat hair for a healthier shine with ByErim
Already perfectly blended and balanced, you’ve got all you need in a single bottle to improve your hair health and shine. Our oil works that much harder to provide a healthier shine, with the oils differing weight and molecular size, it is able to penetrate the scalp, hair cuticles and follicles at a different level. This means that the oils are working together to maximise their benefits, while being independent in weight to work differently layers of your hair.
As Erim Kaur states, “there’s no better way to improve hair shine than slathering on some oil (ByErim Oil of course)!]]>
When considering your hair care routine, steps can be taken to prevent and control dry hair with nature’s very own gift to us: all-natural oils! It is pivotal to note that although oils cannot cure dryness as a result of health conditions, they can still help to manage it. Keep reading to learn more about the causes and solutions to help conquer this hair dilemma!
a) What are the causes of dry hair?
Dry hair can be caused by external lifestyle or environmental factors such as the weather, frequent swimming, overusing chemicals/harsh products (e.g, bleaching), excessive washing etc. The outer layer of our hair, aka the cuticle, works to protect our hair from damage and retain moisture (helping to keep our hair soft and smooth). The factors mentioned above can cause damage to these cuticles, resulting in dryness over time (Women’s Health Mag).
Unfortunately, genetic or health conditions also play a massive part in the health of your hair and can creep up on you when you least expect it! Conditions such as eating disorders and hypothyroidism have cited dryness as a common side-effect due to lack of nutrients or hormone imbalances. If you have any concerns of underlying or undiagnosed problems, be sure to speak to a doctor to be on the safe side - you are not alone!
The award-winning ByErim Luxury Hair & Beard Oil contains eight pure nourishing ingredients perfectly blended to help tackle dry hair; let’s work through each one together.
b) Argan oil for dry hair
The much loved Argan oil (aka the popular kid in the class) is known for its magical ingredients, including many antioxidants, minerals, and vitamins (Healthline). This is perfect as a moisturising and shine-boosting oil that works to hydrate your hair - the holy grail for your strands! The two antioxidants found in argan oil, Vitamin E and polyphenols, help manage water loss (hence increasing hydration) and neutralise free radicals (unstable atoms that can damage our hair, skin and immune system)! (Cosmopolitan)
c) Amla oil for dry hair
Where would hair health be without amla oil? Amla oil has been used in ayurvedic practices (a traditional system of medicine) and comes from the Indian gooseberry. Amla oil is high in Vitamin C and antioxidants, which help deeply penetrate and condition flaky scalps and dry hair (Very Well Health).
d) Coconut oil for dry hair
Coconut oil (the second ayurvedic oil in this list) is packed full of the rich essentials our hair craves, such as omega-3 fatty acids and Vitamin E - the dynamic duo for scalp health (Healthline). Moreover, due to its moisturising properties, coconut oil’s superpower is to add shine back to the hair! According to a 2003 study, coconut oil reduced protein loss in chemically treated and UV exposed hair (NCBI).
e) Castor oil for dry hair
According to Google trends, more than 40% of the public have rave reviews about castor oil, claiming it has strengthened their hair (Elle). Castor oil contains ricinoleic acids (promotes healthier hair) and omega-6 and omega-9 fatty acids. Together, these acids help to lock in moisture and smoothen down the cuticles, resulting in glossier looking hair!
f) Sweet almond for dry hair
This final ayurvedic oil in the ByErim ingredient list is known for its health and healing properties! Almond oil is considered an emollient, a protective layer that helps soften and nourish the hair (NHS). In addition, its generous levels of omega-9 fatty acids (Healthline), Vitamin E and proteins work overtime to strengthen your hair hence increasing shine; we’re so here for this!
g) Essential oils for dry hair
According to industry regulations, the ByErim formula includes three essential oils (lavender, rosemary and bergamot) at 1%. Lavender oil is the most searched for essential oil in the UK (Holland and Barrett). This essential oil deeply conditions the hair, helps fight dandruff and provides an overall soothing effect.
h) How to treat dry hair with ByErim
As the formula has perfectly balanced all of the eight nourishing oils above, you can simply apply and go! We suggest using two pumps (depending on the length of your hair) to your roots, ends or all over (this treatment is our favourite). As ByErim is 100% natural, how you use it ultimately depends on your hair wash schedule and personal preference.

The dreaded nightmare that is hair thinning can creep up on us when we least expect it; don’t worry, you’re not alone! There are many reasons, such as genetics (which can sometimes pre-determine the fate of our hair), age, our health, and so on (NHS), that can impact the thickness of our hair.
For example, hormonal changes in the body, such as menopause or thyroid disease, have listed hair thinning as a common side effect. In addition to this, iron deficiencies, eating disorders, diabetes, and even stress can cause hair thinning at differing levels (WebMD).
a) Why is healthy hair the secret to thicker hair?
When combined with the lifestyle choices that are best for us (speak to your GP if you ever have any concerns), the other key to healthier hair can lie within a good hair care routine. When we help our hair reach its optimal level, it can promote thicker and more luscious strands - sign us up!
All-natural oils are always the guest of honour at our healthy hair care party. While hair oils can’t directly cause hair growth, they are great for supporting healthier hair through moisturisation and the stimulation of our hair follicles. For example, the Luxury ByErim Hair & Beard Oil formula combines eight highly nourishing oils that contribute to healthier and thicker hair. Keep reading to find out more about each special ingredient…
b) Amla oil for hair growth
According to scientists, amla oil is great for improving the look of your hair and promoting hair growth (yes, please!). It is rich in Vitamin C, antioxidants and minerals, which, in ayurveda (traditional medicinal practises), is believed to naturally build your hair health (Healthline).
c) Sweet almond oil for hair growth
Sweet almond oil has the whole package of vitamin E, minerals, omega fatty acids, and vitamin B7 (which we know as biotin). Biotin assists in thickening your hair as it promotes follicle regrowth (Byrdie). Overall, sweet almond oil is known to make your hair stronger and less prone to split ends, meaning that the process of excessively losing damaged hair is reduced (Healthline).
d) Coconut oil for hair growth
What is the big deal about coconut oil? Many have considered it an all-rounder with an endless list of health benefits for your hair! Coconut oil has vitamins and fatty acids that not only nourish the hair but also aids in the removal of sebum (oil produced by the skin) build-up from hair follicles, which can quicken the hair growth process (Marie Claire).
e) Argan oil for hair growth
Referred to as ‘liquid gold’ (Healthline), it is impossible to mention all-natural oils without talking about argan oil. This is because Argan oil contains vitamin E, which according to a study, was found to help in improving hair growth stimulation (NCBI). Not only this, but the combination of antioxidants and fatty acids in argan oil help to nourish the hair and protect against heat damage, which can amount to less hair shedding.
f) Castor oil for hair growth
Castor oil includes ricinoleic acid (which helps increase the scalp's blood flow), encouraging growth. Moreover, castor oil also contains antimicrobial properties that fight off nasty intruders (infections and bacteria) away from the scalp, making it the perfect condition for new growth (Harper’s Bazaar).
g) Essential oils for hair growth
Not only does lavender and rosemary oil smell amazing, but they are also known for their incredible health benefits. For example, lavender oil (which contains antibacterial properties) and rosemary oil (which has the power to enhance cellular generation) both help to improve your scalp health and contribute to thicker strands (Healthline).

]]>What are the different types of afro hair?
There are four different sections (and subsections within) that help us to identify our hair type; straight (1), wavy (2), curly (3) and coily (4). Type 4 (coily hair) is known as afro-texture hair (Allure) and ranges from tight curls (S-shape) to zig-zag patterns.
In a nutshell: 4a hair is a mix of small coils and 3c curls, while 4b hair is denser with a Z-shape pattern. 4c hair has the most definitive zig-zag pattern and is versatile with hairstyles as a result of holding them well.
Why can afro hair become so dry?
Afro hair can often lack hydration, as the natural oils produced by the skin (sebum) struggle to travel down the hair shaft due to the typically tight curl pattern. As 4c has the most definitive hair pattern, it can be the biggest victim to dryness and damage (Naturally Curly).
Can natural oils treat and grow afro hair?
All-natural oils will always have main character energy in our hair care routine. While hair oils can’t directly cause hair growth, they are amazing for supporting the healthy/thicker journey of afro hair through deep moisturisation and stimulating our hair follicles (Refinery29).
Let’s find out each ingredient in the ByErim Luxury Hair & Beard Oil can benefit afro hair...
Amla oil for afro hair
Amla oil has been used in ayurveda for as long as we can remember (traditional medicine). It is packed full of Vitamin C, E and antioxidants, which can contribute to cellular generation (aka growth), as well as the overall healthy circulation of our scalp (Byrdie). Not only this but amla oil is known to be great at hydration, which is ideal for the dryness that afro hair can face.
Sweet almond oil for afro hair
Compared to other oils, while sweet almond oil may have a lighter consistency, it works to strengthen hair by locking in moisture - can we get a hallelujah from dry strands? In addition, with properties such as vitamin A, B, E and omega 3, 6 and 9 fatty acids, sweet almond oil helps fight against breakage (Curly Nikki), which is common in type 4 hair.
Coconut oil for afro hair
As a natural emollient (the quality to soften), coconut oil is the gift that keeps on giving for naturally curly and coily hair (Elle). With the help of its vitamins and fatty acids, coconut oil has the nourishing properties to deeply moisturise the scalp and add shine to dull strands.
Argan oil for afro hair
The iconic argan oil consists of a combination of antioxidants and fatty acids (such as oleic and linoleic acid), which are pivotal for maintaining healthy hair. Adding to this, argan oil contains vitamin E, which can improve hair growth (NCBI).
Castor oil for afro hair
The multi-purpose castor oil is a must for dry and damaged hair! Its vitamin E and omega 6 and 9 acids are great for nourishing the scalp, lowering the chance of breakage and increasing flexibility (WebMD). Furthermore, castor oil includes antifungal properties, which help fight off any infectious intruders, equaling a happier and healthy scalp for afro hair (Harper’s Bazaar).
Essential oils for afro hair
Both rosemary and lavender not only smell amazing (while also containing stress reducing qualities) but are known to contribute to growth. On the other hand, according to popular belief, bergamot oil qualities help soften textured hair (Healthline).
The best oil for afro hair
In a world full of natural hair oils, the ByErim Luxury Hair & Beard Oil has perfectly combined each of the eight hydrating oils above down to the ideal percentage - all while having a light consistency! This formula has been 15 years in the making and has removed all of the hard work for you, aka mixing and sourcing the oils that your hair care routine needs.
For application, we recommend using two pumps (depending on the length of your hair) on your roots, ends or all over (our favourite treatment). As ByErim is 100% natural, how you use it ultimately depends on your hair wash schedule and personal preference. The challenges of curly hair
The beauty of curly hair comes with its challenges; some include frizz, lack of volume, dryness and more (Naturally Curly). Let’s explore some of the most common issues and investigate the reasoning behind them:
a) Why curly hair can go frizzy
Let’s talk about the F word: Frizz. This can occur in naturally curly hair, most typically because of dryness. A reason is that natural oils created by our scalp struggle to travel down the hair shaft of curly hair (more so in comparison to straight hair). The result is an overall lack of moisture, followed by the appearance of frizz (Healthline). After a wash, the way you dry your hair can also contribute to frizz. For example, some people find that using a regular terry towel, aka the hair moisture thief, can absorb way more than it is welcome to (Allure)!
b) Sleeping with curly hair
Sleep; peaceful to some but a stressful process for many curly haired people alike! Sleeping on your back can cause friction from moving your head side to side, resulting in frizz, tangles and leaving your curls looking less defined (Healthline). This is even more likely when sleeping with wet hair, as our strands are more prone to breakage and damage.
c) Brushing curly hair without losing its curls
A hairbrush can be your best friend… or even your worst enemy! While brushing your curly hair comes with many benefits (helps to detangle knots, contributes to shine, etc.), when not done properly/over brushing can lead to damaging your natural curl pattern. In addition, as curly hair is prone to dryness, using the wrong type of brush or brushing too aggressively (guilty!) also affects the shape of your curls while amounting to breakage and frizz (Bustle).
The stocking fillers
They say the best things come in small packages, and they weren’t wrong!
Heated caps: These look like regular shower caps but thicker, to be heated up and used to cover your hair after a hair mask or oiling session. The direct heat helps to lock and trap moisture in our starved curls, reducing dryness (Byrdie).
Silk pillowcase: The smooth surface of these pillowcases reduce the friction on your hair and can decrease hair shed, tangles and frizz - a godsend for curls (Good Housekeeping).
The BIG presents
Want to make unwrapping the big gifts worth it? Here is what to go for...
Hair steamer: Steamers use moist heat to help open the hair cuticle to deeper penetrate strands (increases hydration) when conditioning or using other treatments (Glamour).
Pack of microfiber towels: Replace your regular terry towels with these immediately! Microfibre towels are gentler on your curls, help to preserve the shape, and make the drying process quicker.
The travel sets
Making sure that your curls are well taken care of on the move is super important!

]]>Amla oil might be one of the few natural oils not directly named after the plant it is extracted from. The base oil is sourced from the Indian gooseberry tree, which is native to India but also grown commercially in some parts of Asia and the Middle East. Amla fruits are typically in season from October to March and have a range of benefits, from skin and hair care to inner body health. Like a lot of the ingredients in our ByErim Hair & Beard Oil, amla oil is rich in antioxidants, anti-inflammatory, and gives your hair multiple levels of protection. Keep reading to find out why amla oil has been a favourite of the people for over 3,000 years!
Amla oil for hair benefits
Amla oil makes your hair softer and shinier, which is a hair goal for many people around the world (NCBI). Adding to this, it keeps hair parasites away because it contains components that prove toxic to them (Healthline).
a) Hair growth and thickness
It is widely known that amla oil helps stimulate hair growth and thickness, by strengthening your hair from within. The oil is packed with antioxidants like flavonoids and polyphenols. The first promotes hair growth by causing muscle relaxation in the blood vessels around hair follicles, plugging your hair follicles cells with a constant supply of nutrients! The second antioxidant, according to a study, encourages hair growth by inhibiting the activity of 5α-reductase (an enzyme present in the muscle) (ResearchGate).
b) Dandruff prevention thanks to antibacterial properties
The antibacterial nature of amla oil prevents the growth of dandruff, which is caused by an imbalance in the bacteria present in the hair. It will also treat your scalp with care because it has anti-inflammatory properties!
c) Hair strengthening and overall health
The strength and overall health of your hair can really benefit from amla oil because it works on multiple levels to make your hair happy. It contains antioxidants, which protect your hair from damaging UV exposure and free radicals (unhinged molecules that do not get along with your skin, hair or immune system)!
d) Hair cuticle protection
Alma oil is like the best friend in your life who is always looking to protect you. It looks after the hair cuticle by infusing it with its nutrients; Vitamin C, Vitamin E, and flavonoids and polyphenols - antioxidants that have been explored above.
e) Moisturisation
Amla oil is deeply moisturising because of the fatty acids it contains. These include linolenic acid (an omega-3 acid) and linoleic acid (an omega-6 acid). Linolenic acid helps improve hair loss while linoleic acid boosts how much the scalp can absorb, making the perfect dynamic duo!
Amla oil and Ayurvedic healing
Amla oil has long been associated with Ayurvedic healing, one of the oldest medical systems in the world from India. It is a holistic/ whole-body healing system based on the belief that health and wellness depend on a delicate balance between the mind, body, and spirit. Alma oil plays into this by supporting the immune system, even improving eyesight. It is also a liver tonic and a digestive agent, with several more benefits for the hair (NCBI). Since our bodies are the seats in which our souls and spirits rest, caring for them is the very least we can do!
Amla oil and beard growth
Amla oil contributes to beard growth by targeting a bunch of different factors that contribute to the growth of facial hair. It moisturises the skin underneath your beard and conditions the hair on top of it. Let’s not forget its antioxidants and anti-inflammatory qualities, which mean that you’re protected from external damage from the environment as well as dandruff!
Can amla oil reverse or prevent grey hair?
There is no research yet that proves that amla oil has the ability to reverse existing grey hair, but we can confidently confirm that it does prevent or sometimes slow down the premature greying of hair.
How good is amla oil for black (afro) hair? / Can you use amla oil on natural hair?
Amla oil is a great oil for your natural hair, no matter what it looks like, benefitting afro/ coily hair as it does other types of hair. It is super rich in nutrients and has a lot of love to give, regardless of your hair texture or length.

]]>Argan oil is a base oil extracted from the kernels of the argan oil tree fruit, which is native to Morocco, North Africa. Argan fruits are usually sun-dried for either a few days or up to several weeks, and the fruit drying time directly influences the quality of the extracted oil (NCBI). The oil is nutrient-dense, boasting components like oleic and linoleic acids and the potent antioxidant Vitamin E, which fights off UV exposure and damaging molecules called free radicals (Healthline)! Argan oil is regarded as the super oil in our ByErim Hair & Beard Oil due to its many benefits.
The benefits of argan oil for hair
The oleic acid (an Omega-6 acid) in argan oil also controls water loss in your hair strands, while linoleic acid (an Omega-9 acid) helps maintain a healthy scalp. Linoleic acid is also proven to activate hair cell growth (MDPI)!
a) Helps to increase hair elasticity and increase shine
Hair elasticity has to do with your hair’s bounce-back game (quite literally)! Does it return to its natural state after you brush or comb it? When you undo your bun? A few hours or days after you’ve straightened it? Like an elastic band, your hair should be snapping back to its resting state when it’s all said and done. This is probably a little more noticeable in wavy, curly, and coily hair. If you stretch your hair out until it’s straight and then let go, it should curl back up. That is our goal; elasticity, because it is a great indicator of the health of your hair! Argan oil helps increase the elasticity of your hair by providing it with loads of nutrients. This way you’re covered when you tug, brush, and style your hair (if you're looking for something that's gentle on all hair types, check out the ByErim Luxury Hairbrush). Argan oil also increases shine for the same reasons; vitamin e and those super helpful fatty acids!
b) Helps to moisturise
Argan oil is a great moisturiser because of its fatty acids, which work round the clock to lubricate and moisturise the hair shaft. We love this oil because it nourishes and deeply infuses the hair with hydration!
c) Supports hair growth and thickness
By ensuring that your hair is well fed and protected all around, argan oil contributes to hair growth, thickness, and volume - the holy trinity of hair goals.
d) Prevent breakage and split ends
Argan oil reduces breakage and the formation of split ends by moisturising the hair thoroughly and locking in all the good stuff. It also makes your hair more flexible and elastic. We all know how much it takes to break an elastic band, don’t we?
e) Improve scalp health
Its high percentage of fatty acids means that argan oil is great for moisturising your scalp. Aside from its antioxidant properties which have been explored already, the oil is also anti-inflammatory. This means that it gets rid of dandruff, itchiness, and anything else that can lead to excessive scratching, resulting in hair fall.
Why argan oil can seal in shine as well as moisturise
Argan oil is both a moisturiser and a sealant, which is pretty special because most oils tend to be one or the other. This means that the oil can both penetrate the hair shaft like coconut oil and seal the moisture in at the same time as castor oil does!
Why quality is essential when using argan oil
There’s no doubt that argan oil sits on the pricier side of oils. So when spending your hard-earned coin, it is imperative that you purchase products of the highest quality. Here are some tips and tricks to follow: Take a close look at the colour, potency and scent of the argan oil you’re looking to purchase. 1) Prime argan oil should be smooth in consistency and a golden yellow colour. If it’s any lighter or darker, it has probably been mixed with some other oil, which isn’t necessarily bad, but this should always be advertised on the label. 2) To reap the maximum benefits of this super oil, make sure you’re purchasing 100% argan oil (again, the label should state so clearly). 3) And lastly, argan oil should smell earthy or nutty because, you know, it is extracted from a nut. Of course, every step of this vetting process isn’t always possible to carry out. For example, smelling the oil in a store that doesn’t offer samples or through your laptop when you’re ordering online. But at least two of these steps (checking the colour and the potency of the product) should be pretty straightforward to do!
Blending argan oil with the right base/ and essential oils, like those in the ByErim Hair & Beard Oil formula, often leads to hair magic (at least when you know what you’re doing)! All you have to do is click a button to buy our oil. Sourcing only the finest and most premium oils, we’ve got your back!
Can argan oil help grow facial hair?
Great at multitasking and a favourite in the skincare community, argan oil will pamper your skin and keep it moisturised whilst also protecting and nourishing your beard. So yes, it can help grow facial hair the same way it helps the hair on your head!
Can you use argan oil on dyed hair?
The fatty acids in argan oil infuse moisture into the hair and seal it in, making it a great candidate for treating dyed hair (which is a lot more likely to be dry). We recommend speaking to your colourist about it first though, just to be on the safe side of things. Check out our Instagram highlight titled “coloured” for more info!

]]>Sweet almond oil, often referred to as almond oil, is a base oil made by pressing kernels from the sweet almond plant. It is packed with proteins, fatty acids like Omega 3, 6, and 9, vitamins A, E, and vitamin B-7 (which you might know as biotin)! All these amazing nutrients work together to strengthen your hair, reduce frizz, and keep your scalp clear of bacterial and fungal infections. This is just one of the reasons why the team at ByErim loves sweet almond oil, one of the key ingredients in our culturally rich and clinically tested luxury Hair & Beard Oil!
What is the difference between bitter almond oil and sweet almond oil?
The sweet almond plant doesn’t contain any toxic chemicals but unfortunately, the bitter almond plant, which produces bitter almond oil, does. Bitter almond oil is an essential oil and a controlled substance, especially in the U.S.A., because it contains high levels of toxins, which is converted to the highly poisonous hydrogen cyanide (HCN) when ingested (NCBI). It is for these reasons and more that sweet almond oil is the preferred option for skin and hair care across the world!
The benefits of sweet almond oil for hair
To name a few benefits, sweet almond oil is anti-inflammatory and rich in antioxidants, which combat free radicals (they age your hair and skin very quickly whilst causing a bunch of health problems when coming into contact for too long) (ResearchGate).
a) Hair growth and shine
Because of its high level of antioxidants like Vitamin E, sweet almond oil works great for preventing your hair follicle cells from breaking down! You’ll start to see improvement in hair thickness and length over time if you make a regular habit of working the oil into your hair and scalp. Increasing blood circulation is key, and with components like biotin, growth may be seen all around, even in dormant hair follicles! As if that’s not impressive enough, sweet almond oil also nourishes your hair and leaves it with a beautiful shine thanks to the fatty acids it contains.
b) Scalp dryness and dandruff
Sweet almond oil is intensely moisturising and will reduce dryness and flaking without leaving a greasy mess on your head (yes, you read that right)! It is also antibacterial and antifungal, containing the properties needed to prevent dandruff or remove existing dandruff. In essence, the oil softens the dandruff so that it can be easily washed out with your favourite shampoo (watch this space).
c) Repairs hair and overall health
As an emollient (moisturising hair on a cellular level), sweet almond oil will condition, seal in moisture, and soften your hair over time. The golden rule is, the softer your hair, the more flexible and less prone to breakage it becomes! This means you can brush through your hair with our ByErim Luxury Hairbrush and even heat style it (yes, it is a heat protectant) knowing that your tresses will be perfectly fine!
Sweet almond oil for beards
The fatty acids in sweet almond oil make it ideal for moisturising not only your hair but also your beard, penetrating the hair follicles and staying sealed in for days at a time! Sweet almond oil also contains magnesium and biotin which strengthen and enrich your hair and beard. Like we’ve already said, the oil combats dryness, dandruff, and inflammation. Trust us, it will leave your beard moisturised and with an enviable lustre!
Our ByErim Hair & Beard Oil is the must-have premium blend for your hair and beard. Don’t forget to shop our products here and get cosy in the comments section of our Instagram page with updates on your hair journey or with any questions you may have! After all, that’s what family is for.
]]>Castor oil is a thick base oil pressed from castor beans. The general consensus is that it works magic for your hair because it is nutrient-dense with antimicrobial properties, which keeps the bad stuff (bacteria and fungi) away!
Heat-pressed vs cold-pressed castor oil
Cold-pressed castor oil, known simply as castor oil, is produced without heat and is pale yellow in colour. In contrast, heat pressed castor oil goes by Jamaican Black Castor Oil (JBCO) on the market, requiring a huge amount of heat to extract the oil. It is dark in colour (a dark yellow to light brown) because of its high ash content, created when the castor beans are roasted. Because ash is alkaline (of a high pH level), it helps open up the cuticle and increases the absorption of the oil into the hair shaft and scalp. Both types of castor oil are made up of about 90% ricinoleic acid, a fatty acid that fights inflammation, reducing itching and irritation (NCBI).
ByErim uses cold-pressed castor oil because it is purer and more natural than heat-pressed castor oil!
What are the benefits of castor oil for hair?
Let’s get into all the reasons why castor oil is good for your hair, and why our founder, Erim, decided to include it in the formula for our ByErim Hair & Beard Oil...
Castor oil is rich in fatty acids (like ricinoleic, linoleic, and oleic acids) which lubricate the hair shaft (NCBI). By doing this, the hair becomes flexible, which reduces the chances of breakage. Another thing it does is prevent dandruff. Though dandruff in itself is harmless, it doesn’t look great and can make some people feel self-conscious. The condition also causes a lot of itching, which leads to scratching, and unfortunately, your hair falling out!
Castor oil improves blood circulation when massaged into the scalp which is vital for hair growth. Aside from reducing breakage and dandruff, it also locks moisturise into the hair (Holland and Barrett).
Castor oil gives your hair much needed TLC by conditioning your roots and sealing in moisturise into the scalp.
Is castor oil good for beard growth?
Just like with the hair up top, castor oil works wonders for beards. Its antimicrobial properties mean that your beard and the skin underneath will remain clear and clean! It also never fails to give volume and shine to the beard.
Should you use castor oil on your hair every day?
Experts recommend using castor oil once a week even in curly, coily and grey hairs that are more prone to dryness. When used multiple times a week, the hair may end up matting as a result of the buildup.
The good thing is that you don’t have to worry about using too much or too little castor oil because our ByErim Hair & Beard Oil has got everything mixed in the perfect quantities! Because castor oil is so thick, it is often mixed with other base oils like coconut oil (also included in our Hair & Beard Oil), and sometimes essential oils. Here’s where we come in as your certified one-stop shop, offering the perfect blend of three essential oils (at 1% as per industry regulations) and five base oils wrapped up into one convenient luxury purchase!
The values of family are at the core of the ByErim brand! You deserve to thrive, and what better way to show off to the world than with the healthiest and most lustrous of hair? Use our ByErim Hair & Beard Oil every day for your ends and twice a week for your roots and the length of your hair. For your beard, you can use it three to four times a week.

]]>Coconut oil is a base oil that comes from the pressing of copra (dried coconut kernels). It is 100% fat (80% of this is saturated fat), high in calories but contains no cholesterol! Coconut oil is pretty versatile and is used in haircare because its chemical structure, mainly made up of lauric acid (a medium-chain fatty acid), helps reduce protein loss in the hair shaft (Healthline). Stick with us until the end to find out even more benefits… You don’t want to miss this!
Why we use unrefined and cold-pressed coconut oil
Coconut oil is one of the five base oils included in our ByErim Hair & Beard Oil formula, and we choose to include only the unrefined and cold-pressed kind! Why you might ask? When coconut oil is refined, it goes through more processing, while unrefined coconut oil is minimally processed, remaining more natural and retaining a strong coconut flavour. Oils are often refined by filtration with a bleaching clay, and while this removes impurities, it also strips some of the nutrients found in the oil (Harvard School of Public Health). Our founder, Erim, chose unrefined coconut oil for the product because the ByErim team believes that the more natural an oil, the better! No additives, no potentially harmful chemicals... Your hair will love you! Cold-pressing an oil basically means it was extracted without the use of heat and also that more nutrients were retained because of this. While this process is more expensive to carry out and extracts a lower amount of oil than expeller pressing (extraction using high pressure and high heat), cold-pressing produces the highest quality of coconut oil. Here at ByErim, we think it’s totally worth it, and we’re sure you will too!
Is coconut oil good for your hair?
Coconut oil is generally considered good for your hair and scalp because it has moisturizing and sealing qualities that help reduce breakage and split ends. It penetrates deeper and quicker into the hair shaft than most oils because it is mostly made up of medium-chain fatty acids, which gives the oil a long, straight structure (Holland and Barrett). Coconut oil is perfect for treating dry hair because it reduces protein loss in the hair, conditions it, and helps in the regrowth process of damaged hair. Because it is so moisturising, it is also great for scalp health and can help prevent dandruff if massaged into the scalp regularly (ResearchGate). All these functions of the oil support hair growth and length retention, bringing you one step closer to your hair goals!
Coconut oil for short hair
Short hair may come with some frustrations like limited styling options, which could lead to experimentation with new styles that may require daily maintenance. And we all know that playing with your hair all the time is never a good thing! Coconut oil comes in to save the day by moisturising and conditioning the hair so that breakage is reduced even in the face of hair manipulation.
Coconut oil for afro hair
Afro hair is super coily, which makes it dry and textured by nature and prone to knots, often leading to breakage in the hair (NCBI). Although everyone’s scalp naturally produces oils, these oils usually have a harder time travelling all the way to the ends of afro hair because it’s so coily. In contrast, straight hair enjoys a lot more of these scalp oils because it’s easier for the oil to reach the ends of the hair. Think of yourself as a naturally secreted scalp oil sitting through a train ride at an amusement park versus sitting through a rollercoaster ride. You’ll probably make it to your destination in one piece with the train but by the end of the rollercoaster? Not so full to the brim we reckon. What coconut oil does for afro hair, as we’ve touched on earlier is sealing moisture in the hair when applied sparingly, which is needed for dry and textured hair types like afro hair. This results in way less shedding and breakage over time, boosting hair retention and thickness!
Coconut oil for curly hair
Curly hair usually gets dry and tangled for the same reason as afro hair though not to the same extent. The curls cause knots and make it harder for naturally produced scalp oils to coat the full length of hair strands, leading to frizziness. Coconut oil helps here in a number of ways! It helps detangle the hair by providing lubrication and treats frizzy hair by penetrating the hair shaft. And some of the oil stays on top of the hair to give it shine.
Coconut oil for grey hair
Grey hair is known to be coarser and stiffer than regular (darker) hair strands (NCBI). As we’re sure you’ve heard enough times by now, coconut oil is great for this type of hair because it softens it and gives it a nice shine.
Coconut oil for natural hair
It should be pretty obvious by now that coconut oil will do bits for your natural hair no matter what it looks like. Whether straight, wavy, curly, or coily, your hair and scalp will always require moisture, sealing, and conditioning. That’s exactly what we’re offering with the ByErim Hair & Beard Oil. Coconut oil is only one out of eight of the pure natural oils on our ingredients list so you know we come correct!
Coconut oil for beards
Aside from being used in hair care, coconut oil is also very popular in the skincare world, making it a great product for beard care. It’s a two birds, one stone situation; the oil conditions the beard, giving it a lovely sheen whilst softening the skin underneath in the process. With coconut oil on your beard, it’s goodbye flaking and dead skin, which is why our ByErim Hair & Beard Oil is the one for you!
Coconut oil for bleached hair
Hair when bleached often becomes super dry, breaking easily and frizzing up. This happens because the chemicals in bleach remove colour by breaking apart your hair proteins (PubMed). Just like with other types of dry hair, coconut oil comes to the rescue by sealing moisture in your hair and preventing protein loss. It also helps your hair to look a little less fried by giving you shine, you know the one!
ByErim offers luxury, eco-friendly haircare products backed by science, culture, and years of tradition! If you are impressed with the benefits of coconut oil (only one of the ingredients in our Hair & Beard Oil) you will absolutely love what the ByErim oil as a whole will do for you!

]]>Essential oils are plant-based like a lot of the fine things in life! They are super concentrated, smell like the plants they’re distilled from and have a lot of the benefits of those plants. Because of how concentrated they are, essential oils rely on the help of some pretty great pure and natural oils, called base oils. They are usually cold-pressed from seeds, nuts, and kernels and always move in silence, with little to no scent. Think argan, jojoba, coconut oil. With several qualities of their own, they also give essential oils a helping hand by diluting and carrying them to the hair or skin.
Why essential oils are used in hair care
The truth is that essential oils are multi-tasking queens! That friend who is good at everything? Yeah, that’s them. They’ve been used for skin and hair treatments for centuries (as early as 2000 BC in Ancient Egypt) because of the various perks they offer, from stimulating the scalp to adding lustre to the hair and being anti-inflammatory. And they are all-natural!
Lavender essential oil for hair: the stress reducer
We know you’ve heard of lavender oil, the head cheerleader of the essential oil squad who brings hair growth and anti-microbial benefits to the table (Healthline). Its antimicrobial properties prevent the growth of bacteria and fungi in the hair, translating to the elimination of conditions like dandruff, which is caused by an imbalance of bacteria found on the scalp. We love it so much that we chose to include it in the ByErim Hair & Beard Oil and she does not disappoint!
Rosemary essential oil for hair: the hair thickener
Rosemary oil, the second essential oil in the ByErim Hair & Beard Oil, also has our seal of approval! It protects against hair loss, even in extreme cases like androgenetic alopecia, and relieves the itching that comes with the condition, according to a study carried out on human subjects in 2015 (PubMed). Rosemary oil has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties and with the help of one of its star components, carnosic acid, it helps reduce scalp irritation among many other benefits (ScienceDirect).
Bergamot essential oil for hair: the scalp cleanser
The third and final essential oil in the ByErim Hair & Beard Oil is Bergamot oil. With a boujee name like that, it comes as no surprise that hair lovers claim that it softens curls in addition to soothing the scalp (Healthline). Besides these benefits, Bergamot oil promotes hair growth and is anti-inflammatory, which has benefits for the scalp (NCBI).
Why essential oils are perfect for dry hair
Essential oils in general are super moisturising for your hair and have got sealing properties. The best part about this is that you don’t have to do anything but buy the ByErim Hair & Beard Oil because our Founder and CEO, Erim Kaur, and her team have done all the work for you. The ByErim Hair & Beard Oil has the perfect blend of lavender, rosemary, and bergamot oils diluted at 1% as per industry guidelines with five equally beneficial base oils.
Can essential oils repair damaged hair?
Here’s your answer: Yes and yes! Just ask Erim. From stopping further hair loss and breakage to boosting the elasticity of your hair, strengthening your roots, and restoring follicles, essential oils are always making moves to repair damaged hair.
Essential oils and hair growth: what's the story?
Hair growth is boosted by essential oils in so many ways! Some essential oils increase scalp thickness and the number of hair follicles you’ve got, giving you a thicker mane or unclog the blocked hair follicles that are holding your hair growth hostage. Others like Rosemary oil help restore scalp tissue and improve blood supply in the scalp which everyone knows leads to hair growth. It’s great news all around!
Essential oil for facial hair including beards
Just like we’ve said before for hair on your head, essential oils like the ones found in the ByErim Hair & Beard Oil can support fuller, thicker beard growth. These oils do their part to contribute towards beard growth (blood circulation to up your growth rate, unclogging follicles, etc.), with Rosemary oil moisturising the skin underneath the beard so that you’re never caught in public with flakey skin trapped in your beard.
The ByErim essential oil blend
Concocted with love by Erim and her Dhadi (grandmother), ByErim boasts a rich infusion of their heritage. Lavender, rosemary and bergamot oils were chosen specifically to be included in the ByErim formula because of their extensive qualities, how well they complement each other, and the five base oils used.
The ByErim Hair & Beard Oil has the perfect formula, giving you the benefits of essential, base oils, and everything in between! We are a luxury haircare brand founded by hair enthusiast, modern-day Rapunzel, and social media influencer Erim Kaur.
