The Ingredients in ByErim Hair Oil: What They Actually Do

# The Ingredients in ByErim Hair Oil: What They Actually Do

I could write some vague thing about "ancient Ayurvedic wisdom" and "nature's bounty." But that's not how I want to run this.

Here's exactly what's in our hair oil, why it's there, and what it does. No fluff.

## Sesame Oil (The Base)

**What it is:** Cold-pressed oil from sesame seeds. Golden color, slight nutty smell, slightly warm to the touch.

**Why sesame:**
- Penetrates hair (doesn't just sit on top)
- Lightweight enough for all hair types
- Naturally contains lignans and sesamol (actual antioxidants, not marketing claims)
- Warming properties improve scalp circulation
- Balances humidity (draws moisture in dry conditions, helps release it in humid ones)

**What you'll notice:** Hair feels softer within a few uses. Breakage decreases over 2-3 weeks.

## Neem Oil (The Protector)

**What it is:** Oil extracted from neem tree seeds. Distinctive bitter smell. This is the ingredient people either love or find pungent. Fair warning.

**Why neem:**
- Natural antibacterial and antifungal properties (not because it "detoxes" — because it actually inhibits bacterial growth)
- Balances scalp without stripping
- Traditionally used for over 2,000 years specifically for scalp health
- Reduces inflammation
- Helps with dandruff and itching

**What you'll notice:** If you have scalp issues (itching, flaking, irritation), improvement usually shows within 1-2 weeks. If you don't have issues, you might not notice it — it's preventative.

**The honest part:** Some people find the smell strong. You get used to it. We don't mask it with fragrance because that defeats the purpose of using neem.

## Coconut Oil (The Sealer)

**What it is:** Oil from coconut flesh. Creates a protective layer on hair.

**Why coconut:**
- Seals the cuticle (reduces moisture loss)
- Cooling properties (balances sesame's warmth)
- Adds shine
- Lightweight in the right concentration

**Why not 100% coconut:**
- It can build up if used alone
- It's solid at room temperature (less penetrating than liquid oils)
- Some hair types get weighed down by it

**In our blend:** Coconut is the supporting player. It's there to seal what sesame nourishes, not to do the heavy lifting.

**What you'll notice:** More shine, less frizz. Hair looks healthier even before it feels healthier.

## The Proportions (Why This Matters)

We use sesame : neem : coconut in a ratio that works across hair types.

**Too much neem:** Scalp feels medicinal, unpleasant smell is overwhelming.
**Too little neem:** Scalp-balancing benefits disappear.
**Too much coconut:** Hair gets weighed down, silky feel becomes slick.
**Too little coconut:** No sealing, hair doesn't have that finished look.

The blend is calibrated so that:
- Fine hair isn't weighed down
- Thick hair gets enough nourishment
- Scalp gets sufficient antibacterial benefit without being overpowering
- Hair gets sealed without buildup

## What We Don't Use (And Why)

**Silicones** — They coat hair, add shine temporarily, and build up over time. We want you to build hair health, not a silicone layer.

**Fragrance** — Natural neem smell is strong. Adding fragrance (natural or synthetic) masks that and adds a unnecessary ingredient. If you want it to smell different, that's a trade-off we're not making.

**Preservatives** — Our oil doesn't need them. It's stable without them. Once in your hand, use it. We're not trying to put this in a bottle for 3 years.

**Emulsifiers** — This isn't a lotion. It shouldn't mix with water. Oil is oil.

**Lightweight fillers** — Some oils add mineral oil or cyclopentasiloxane to make their product stretch further. That's profitable. It's not what you paid for.

## The Making Process (Why It Matters)

**Cold-pressed, not solvent-extracted.**

This matters:
- Cold-pressing preserves the plant compounds (neem's antibacterial properties are temperature-sensitive)
- No chemical solvents left behind
- It's slower and more expensive, which is why most oils aren't made this way
- The color and smell are actual properties of the oil, not processing artifacts

**Tested for purity.** Not because of regulations (this isn't regulated), but because anything less would be half-assing it.

## How This Compares to Other Products

| Product | Cost Per Use | Buildup? | Scalp Health | Penetration | Our Take |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Silicone-based conditioner | High (need a lot) | Yes | No | Surface only | Temporary fix |
| Mineral oil | Cheap | Heavy | No | Doesn't penetrate | Wasting money |
| 100% coconut oil | Low | Potential | Mild | Seals but doesn't nourish | Incomplete |
| Neem alone | Low | No | Excellent | Penetrates well | Too strong alone |
| Our blend | Medium | No | Excellent | Deep penetration + sealing | Balanced |

## Real Talk on Results

**Week 1:** Your hair will feel different. Softer, perhaps. Could feel weird if you're used to silicone.

**Weeks 2-3:** Breakage decreases noticeably. Hair looks shinier.

**Month 1:** Scalp starts settling. If you had irritation, it's improving. Hair is stronger.

**Months 2-3:** This is where you see the real difference. Hair is visibly healthier — thickness, shine, manageability.

The ingredient blend does this. Not because of vague "Ayurvedic energy." Because these three oils, in this proportion, actually nourish hair and support scalp health.

## Why We're Telling You This

Because ingredient transparency matters. You should know what you're putting on your head and why.

The blend isn't secret. It's not proprietary. It's intentional.

And if you prefer 100% coconut, or you want something lighter, or you have a specific issue — you can look at this and understand what you need instead. That's the whole point.

---

**Bottom line:** Three ingredients, cold-pressed, balanced for actual results. No fillers, no masking agents, no shortcuts.

That's what's in the bottle. That's what you're paying for.
